Remote control cars come in a lot of different shapes, sizes and models. You can get fast racing cars, big trucks made to climb terrain that was seen as unclimbable by normal remote control cars, or even cars that have cool tricks like shooting water or jumping. The big question to ask when buying a new RC car is: What do you want from your car?

If you're like me, you'll be looking for a remote control car to cure an hour of boredom here and there. I didn't go out and spend $1,000 on my car, so it's probably not the fastest thing you've ever seen. But it was cheap and I've learnt to drift pretty well with it. If you're just getting into remote control cars then I would definitely suggest an electric car. These are by far the easiest to maintain, they will rarely break down, have little to no running costs (apart from your batteries used in the remote control) and as long as you remember to keep the battery charged, you will have a great time playing with this little toy.

If you're more into racing with remote control cars, I would suggest a nitro car. These little beasts are the fastest and have been known to reach speeds of up to 110 miles per hour. Now that's fast! They are quite expensive to run though, with their fuel sometimes costing $45 a gallon. Also the maintenance required is sometimes quite extensive. But I suppose that is to be expected with an amazingly fast racing car.

Whatever route you choose to go with remote control cars, they're fun for the whole family. There's nothing better than taking your whole family out with remote control cars and driving them around.
